Cleanliness, is Next to Godliness
The phrase “cleanliness is next to Godliness” feels so true. This line was occurring to me as I moved through my post-Christmas clean up. I considered how much more peaceful it feels in a clean space.
It feels expansive. Like when walking on a beach or in the middle of a forest clearing. To me, the act of cleaning feels like making space for deeper breaths.
My ego would say to me, “people will chastise you for thinking you are some God expert!” To which I hear guidance that says, our “wisdom is as deep and as our personal connection to Source, God, the Universe.”
Having meditated every day now for 2,040 days in a row, I feel as though I can expertly comment on my own personal connection to God/Source/The Universe. I know deeply, the overwhelming peace that floods me when I connect to the Source of all that is.
And this is how I’ve come to believe and understand, that cleanliness really is next to godliness.
When we are in a cleaner space, we feel more open and expansive in our energy. We feel more connected to peace and contentment, which are indicative of what our soul is always feeling. A messier space will cause us to feel more constricted, closed off, and chaotic.
It is difficult to open to all that is, in a messy space.
I am sure there are some of you that feel completely connected to God in any space you’re in, so of course I’m not saying this isn’t possible. It is just one way that I find makes it easier to connect to higher consciousness.
If you currently feel disconnected and a bit closed off to your inner peace/soul/God, look around you. Do you have space to breathe deep expansive breaths? Are you feeling at ease in your space, or in dis-ease?
Messiness equals chaos. An open tidy space equals peace.
Maybe you don’t desire connecting to God/Source/The Universe per se, but you would love to feel some peace. If life seems chaotic in your mind, look around you. I would bet that there may be chaos in your physical space as well.
This isn’t saying that “God loves clean people more”. From what I feel and have faith in, God/Source/Universe loves us all and we are one, and we are all a fragment of God.
God is within us, which is what I believe is key in understanding this phrase. “Cleanliness is Next to Godliness.”
It has as much to do with our thoughts as anything, and some could argue that it is entirely about our thoughts. And it is way easier to clean up our thoughts when we tidy up the chaos in our environment.
A beautiful way to connect to our higher power is to be present with our own peaceful place within. It is found where the ego thoughts aren’t shaming or judging us or blaming others or circumstances. It is found when we make space to connect with our peaceful place within.
Our breath and the spaciousness we create in our lives assists us in connecting with our peaceful soul, that is calm and loving.
The ego creates chaos that fosters a disconnect between us and our God within. When we have a messy space, and chaotic thoughts about it or our lives, we are further from God. When we have a cleaner headspace and physical space, we have easier access to the God within us.
Cleanliness is next to Godliness. Anything that creates more chaos in our mind takes us further from God. You know that voice in your head saying that you are lazy for not taking care of things – saying that you have an endless to do list – saying that life sucks?
It isn’t you.
You are the God self. You are the soul, the higher consciousness, a light of this vast the Universe.
When you work to clear out the things that prevent you from feeling the truth of that, life gets way better. A deeper connection may be just a deep clean away. Take these last few days of the year to set your intention by clearing out the chaos in your life and your mind.
I hope you find your peaceful presence.
