This is Your Reminder to Do the Thing

Here is your reminder, to do the thing.

I’m not talking about the thing your mind and society are ‘shoulding’ you to do.

I’m talking about the thing you do, for you. There may be nothing more important than taking the time to do that thing you do just for you.

What is your thing?

It’s that thing that you do willingly, without reward or compensation, even if it is challenging. The action itself produces the reward.

It’s that thing you do where you lose track of time. It’s the activity that seems to call to you. It feels good to engage in it and it excites you. You may be very good at it, or perhaps you aren’t. It doesn’t matter.

What matters is the passion. The passion comes from within. What you are passionate about, is your soul’s food, and there’s a purpose for it.

Your soul self is your higher self. It is the truest aspect of you. It is the one who is connected to a higher consciousness. It is the aspect of you who is living this human experience, and the one who will transcend it.

When you are connected to your soul, you feel lighter. More joyful. In the moment. You are not thinking about the past or worrying about the future. Time seems to stand still.

When we engage in an activity that feeds our soul, we naturally bring ourselves into alignment with our soul. Presence. The place where life is truly happening.

We each have activities or places that seem to call to us, and to answer the call is of the utmost importance to our soul self, and our human experience. This calling gives us fuel for everyday life, and opens us up to higher guidance and inspiration.

For me, it is gardening. My garden has always been the place I could go and get lost. I could spend endless hours engaging in grueling work without thought. No part of me is angry if I’m doing it all myself. No part of me feels drained mentally. My body may be exhausted, but my mind is at ease.

Yoga is another of my soul’s food. I can roll out my yoga mat and get lost in movement. My body and soul seem to beckon me to the mat. I don’t have to be forced or coerced. I yearn for it.

We all have an activity, or a place we are called to, and when we follow the call, we are pleasing our higher self.

If you decide to ignore the calling and watch TV, scroll, or do something you think you “should” do instead, you are missing an opportunity to refuel your mind, body, and soul.

Life can be hard. This is why your higher self is calling you to do the thing you love.

Whether that is painting, running, doing yoga, sewing, crafting, writing, or working in your garden, you must gift yourself time to do the thing.

Your soul knows instinctively what you need to feel good. To re-energize, so you can live be your best self. Don’t put it off.

Don’t let your mind talk you out of what your body and soul are asking you to do. Whatever causes you to expand in your being and lift away the heaviness of life must be prioritized.

If only for ten minutes a day, lose yourself in whatever brings you joy. You know you want to.

(Sometimes, we can be so detached from this aspect of ourselves we don’t even know what our higher self wants. If this feels like you, come in for a reiki session. In one hour I can help you align with your higher self so you can feel what it means to be aligned. Use the code, 10OFFREIKI for $10 off your session.)
