We Must Feel in Order to Heal,

How Reiki Energy Healing Can Help

Pain. Everyone wants out of pain, and we have so many ways to achieve this. Advil. Codeine. A bottle of wine. Whatever it takes to make the pain go away. But what if the pain is there to get our attention? What if our body is asking us to look within, rather than masking it or looking for answers outside of us?

As an energy healer, my job is to help transmute energy and bring the body back into balance. But before I knew anything about energy work, I was just a person in a lot of pain. And I had no idea why.

I had autoimmune diseases that left me in chronic pain with fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis for more than a decade. I tried the meds at first, but they really weren’t effective. Then I tried elimination diets, which did help a little. Yet the list of foods I needed to avoid was growing, and I was told I was going to have to live like that for the rest of my life.

I was hopeless and frustrated at times, but I had the sense that there was something else going on. I wasn’t going to accept that I would live with this forever.

Thank God that eventually, I got quiet and began a daily meditation practice. I needed the peace, if nothing else. When I stopped painstakingly looking for answers outside of myself, my body began communicating with me.

After a few months of devoted meditation, I began sensing a subtle energy in my body. Soon, I followed my soul’s guidance to explore and learn reiki energy healing. This became the catalyst for healing my autoimmune diseases, for good.

Understanding the energy in the body that undercurrents the physical aspect of the body, is the key to healing on the deepest level.

Everything we experience in our lives, occurs first on an energetic level. Everything is made up of energy, including every thought we thought we think, and every emotion we feel, or don’t feel. Knowing this, it is easy to understand why it is necessary for us to feel our feelings and not press them down.

When we push down our feelings and hide from our discomfort, we are creating holding patterns in the body. These may be traumas we’ve tried to forget, sadness we want to ignore, anger we press down, and resentments we pretend aren’t there. All of these feelings are there to be expressed, and when we don’t allow for that, we create energetic constrictions in the body.

Suppressed emotions restrict the flow of energy.

Imagine that every emotion over the course of your life that you did not express, is a tiny pebble that’s hiding inside of your body. Every trauma you experienced and couldn’t make sense of or forgive, is a little boulder.

The body is being forced to hold onto all of this energy when instinctively, it wants to move it out. When these feelings are not allowed to move, they create blockages in the vital flow of energy that contributes to our “aliveness”.

After a while, this becomes physically taxing on the body and creates “dis-ease”.

I encourage everyone who is suffering in any way, to get quiet with your body and be still. Practice meditation. Notice if in the stillness, you sense uncomfortable emotions or feelings coming up. Memories from long ago. Stressors that you are possibly ignoring or trying to push aside.

You don’t have to pretend you are feeling great when there is sadness. Feel the sadness. Cry. Emotions are energy in motion. They need to move and flow, as do we. Holding it all in compresses every cell and organ in the body.

The ability to feel, is one of our most natural tendencies. It is a gift of energetic release, just as a yawn is when we are tired.

If meditation feels too difficult, try breathwork, yoga, or tai chi. Moving with breath will help increase the vital flow of energy in your body and help you release what needs to be let go. Journaling can be a great help in releasing repressed memories.
