Why and How to Choose Faith Over Fear

In the world we live in right now, there is a dominant energy being expressed and felt, and it is fear. We are being told and shown continuously, why we should be fearful. And I have to say, the evidence to be afraid is mounting.

Yet, we must also recognize that the evidence to be fearful has always existed.

And I’m still here. And you’re still here.

I remember as a kid, being afraid of a nuclear war, and of the entire west coast falling into the ocean. And it didn’t happen. There have always been things to be afraid of. And there always will be. But what does fear do for us?

The only time fear is helpful, is when we it comes through in a moment as a warning, and we respond in that moment. That is what it is there for. Fear is helpful in a moment. When fear is felt for long lengths of time, we are paying a price. That price is our peace, our health, and our livelihood.

A better energy to practice right now, is faith. We can look at fear and faith, as simply energies that drive our lives. Fear takes us to darker places, and faith brings us light. Energetically speaking, the vibration of fear is lower in density and feels heavy on the body. Faith is a higher vibration frequency and feels lighter on the body.

Notice when you are worried, and how heavy and constricted it feels in your body.

Notice when something brings you joy and contentment, how much lighter you feel.

When we move through life in fear, we are going to create situations that reflect the fear. If you understand the law of attraction, it’s simple to realize that when we reflect fear, we attract more things to be fearful of.

Fearful people are reactive. They are hasty. They do not pause before they act. They have overreactive thoughts that circle around in the mind, causing them to carry a level of anxiety and intensity. They react toward others with that fearful energy, and it spreads.

When people don’t feel safe, they react just like animals would react when they don’t feel safe. By nature, they lash out. Yet, unlike animals, it is our thoughts that contribute most to our fear – not simple nature.

A parent with fearful energy will react that way toward their kids and will in turn, create that fearful energy in them. When you live in fear, without even trying, you spread it to others.

If you understand this, then you can see how the fear mentality creates wars. Fear of not having enough, or fear of having something taken away, creates greed, which also creates conflict. Fearful energy is the driving force behind all the conflict we see in the world around us.

If you are investing your energy, thoughts, and feelings in fear, then this is the kind of world that you are creating and contributing to.

This is why it is essential for us to realize that we must be the change we wish to see in the world.

It starts within each of us.

A much better energy to invest in, is faith. Faith lives in our heart and is all about love and hope and seeing the good in the world. When people have faith, they react in kind, literally. People who have faith are generally kinder and more relaxed. They have nothing to fight about or protect themselves from. They respond in presence and without judgement. They are more generous and loving.

When you have faith, you believe that everything will work out for the best. Even if it’s difficult right now, you still have faith that everything will work out in the end.

If you truly look back on your life – doesn’t it reflect more of “everything worked out for the best”, rather than the worst?

The energy of faith spreads, just like the energy of fear spreads.

When you are grounded in faith and your child comes to you scared about something, then they will be reassured in your presence. When you have faith that everything is going to work out, you give others the permission to have and feel faith. When we react to the world out of faith, we create a safer space for everyone.

So how do you practice Faith?

For one, do not feed the fear. This means you’re turning the news, particularly if you feel that it is creating a reaction in your body. Also, stop engaging in back-and-forth conversations with others about the things you fear and worry about.

Nurture your faith by spending more time appreciating what is good, engaging in joyful hobbies, loving others, laughing, being in nature, and praying.

This is something I’ve leaned heavily into in the past year, is prayer. Worrying is like wishing for what we don’t want to have happen. So when I sense a worry, I sit for a moment with it, and then turn my worry into a prayer, for what I want the outcome to be.

Then I let it go.

Faith grounds us securely and brings us back to a reassuring place of love and hope. The more of us who live from this space, the better the world will be for all of us.

Fear is there, and there are plenty of things we can be fearful about. The question is, are you comfortable there? Are you happy there? Is life better there? Are you changing the world for the better from there?

No.

If we want a more loving, accepting, united community and world, we must bring forth the energy of faith. This is the most healing and productive thing we can do to contribute to a better life for ourselves, and a better world for all.
