Your Soul Has the Map to Your Best Life

If you are feeling lost and uncertain of your purpose or direction in life, know this - it is only in thought. Your soul - your essence - your truest self, has the map with the path of least resistance toward your best and most fulfilling life. Taking the time every day to strengthen your connection to your soul will help you attract what is meant for you, help you let go of what isn’t, and help you feel more joy in the now.
What is the simplest way to strengthen this connection to your soul self?
Regular, daily meditation practice. Does the idea of that make you cringe? Does it seem impossible to believe that sitting for 5 minutes a day could help you that much? I felt that way too once. That was more than 6 years ago, and before my more than 2,000 days straight of meditating.
Back when I felt stuck, easily stressed, and “not enough”(for what, I didn’t know).
Back when my ego’s habitual thought patterns ran my life.
I used to read all about the benefits of meditation, but until I really committed to it and felt the effects of it, I didn’t quite grasp the ultimate goal.
“Quiet the Mind and The Soul Will Speak” ~ Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati
Meditation helps you become aware of your higher self. The YOU who is calmly resting behind that tornado of thoughts. This peaceful, loving, all knowing Soul that is the real YOU, awaits patiently in the background.
When you practice regularly, you begin to feel your true essence lurking inside. This is the place from where all of the answers to everything you want to understand about yourself, and your life, reside.
Maybe you’ve tried to meditate and had thoughts like,
“What’s the point? My mind won’t get quiet, this is weird, this doesn’t work for me”, or, “nothing is happening”.
Notice how you can hear the thoughts, as if they are coming from somewhere else? That’s because they are. They are coming from your ego. And the thoughts that form your ego came from your parents, society, and the habits you cultivated to survive in this human experience. They are not your true soul self.
The purpose of meditation, is to connect to the stillness behind the thoughts, so you may become the observer of the thoughts, rather than becoming them.
Over time, when you identify more with this place of self awareness, you will enjoy more peace, less struggle, and be guided to your best life with ease. If you want to dive deeper into “The Seat of The Soul”, read the book by Gary Zukov. I found it to be very helpful in navigating my way to my soul connection.
What is your soul’s path?
My understanding, is that we all come in as souls to experience this human life. And we all have a plan of sorts, a general blueprint of the experiences we wish to have, the lessons we want to learn, and the souls we want to connect with. We all have a destiny. This doesn’t mean we only have one destiny, or one great moment or calling in life. It means that if we allow ourselves to be guided by our soul, we will feel fulfillment in whatever we do. We will learn from our challenges, and evolve into more conscious beings in this human experience. And that’s all anyone really wants anyway right?
How do we know when it is our soul who is guiding us?
Our soul communicates in peaceful yet powerful nudges, knowing, callings, and expansive feelings in the body. When it is time to let go of something, or move in a certain direction, we will feel it. The soul speaks through feelings in our body and through the voice of our intuition. Never through intrusive, unkind, or judgmental thoughts, as does the voice of the ego.
Often, our soul is simply guiding us to what may fill our cup in the moment. (A warm bath, writing a thank you letter, or taking a walk for example). Saying NO. Taking a right turn instead of a left. Choosing what feels right for us instead of what we “should” do, is what our soul often tries to help us with.
Soul guidance comes through us with a calm voice that is all knowing and distinctly quieter and less agitating, than that nagging inner roommate (ego). The soul is always present in the moment, and never mulling over the past or future. Our soul is in here and now. By intentionally meditating each day, you are strengthening your connection to your soul’s voice. This way, you can learn your soul’s unique way of communicating through you.
Over time, you will be led more by the presence of your soul responding to life, than the worrisome, fearful, judgmental ego thoughts reacting to life. This is when things get good. Relationships are better. Your soul finds the people it connects with, the places it resonates with, and the activities that are most fulfilling to you. And you find yourself distancing from the life-depleting choices that your ego has or would make.
Our soul is the vibrance of life. Our connection to the Universe.
In any given moment we are either aligned with our soul, or we are being driven by our ego.
If you are troubled and feeling lost, I can assure you, your soul self is not. Commit to a simple daily meditation practice and you will feel the difference that even just 5 minutes a day makes. I like the Insight Timer App, and I have used the free version forever. I highly recommend it. There are a wide variety of voices, sounds, and times lengths to choose from.
Don’t give up. It won’t take long for your path to unfold and for your life to flow with more ease and less suffering. If we all take the time to connect and live more through the path of our soul, we will be more fulfilled, more understanding of one another, and live in greater harmony.
If you need a little assistance in feeling more connected to your soul self, schedule a Reiki session with me. This is a great way to kick start a daily mindfulness practice. In one session, you can learn what it feels like to embody your true essence.
